How do I edit text in an image without breaking the design?

Best prompt patterns for replacing or adding text while preserving font and layout.

When you want to change text inside an image (a sign, packaging, UI mockups), treat it like a precise replacement task.

Use double quotes

Always put the target text in English double quotes.

Good prompt patterns

  • Replace "SALE" with "NEW".
  • Replace the label text "Vitamin C" with "Vitamin D".
  • Change the sign text to "AfterGen Studio".

Preserve typography if you want a clean result

Add an explicit constraint

  • Keep the original font, size, color, spacing, alignment, and perspective.

If there are multiple texts, point to the right one

  • Replace the top banner text "..." with "...".
  • Replace the small text near the logo "..." with "...".

Keep the change minimal

If you only want the text changed

  • Do not change anything else in the image.
  • Keep the background, lighting, and layout unchanged.

If the model edits more than you asked for, shorten the prompt, remove extra wishes, and strengthen the “keep unchanged” line.
